Unless you are on a Power Macintosh, make sure that Virtual Memory is turned off.  You will find Virtual Memory in the "Memory" control panel.  If Virtual Memory is not turned off you may experience problems with audio/video sync.  (If you do change the Virtual Memory setting, be sure to Restart your computer so the change can take effect.)
